Folkebaadcentralen A/S was established on March the 1 st 1977 by Erik Andreasen.
Idea:
Erik Andreasen is mainly known as Mr. Folkboat. For many years he has produced the well known classic “The Folkboat”, and it has come to more than 1070 of the kind. Yet he has dreamt about creating a beautiful, classic motor boat since he back in the late fifties - early sixties saw a beautiful old classic lying at the harbour of Kerteminde. It belonged to the then director of Kerteminde Iron Foundry – Svend Heinicke – probably mainly remembered because he at the same time was the chairman of the Employers’ Organisation. If Erik saw the boat to day, he would surely be disappointed; but in a way it has been the model.
Many years later Erik Andreasen then began investigating the possibilities and contacted among others one of Europe’s greatest constructor companies – Vripak – the Netherlands. The constructor who was set the task, did simply not understand Erik’s way of thinking – and only wanted to draw boats with 200 hp petrol motors and was not at all able to understand the thoughts of a boat being beautiful and slowly sailing. After the fourth proposal Erik gave up the cooperation.
On a boat show in Southampton September 2000 Jens Quorning (Børge Quorning’s son who has taken over “Dragonfly”) visited Erik Andreasen. He was on his way to U.S.A., but suggested that Erik should contact Børge. The first proposal was discarded; but when Jens came back from the U.S, he took part in the project, too and knew precisely what Erik had in mind, and then they began approaching each other. It was an exiting time; but many times Erik had night mares thinking of what he had got mixed up in with his most limited knowledge of motor boats.
The boat was put into production, and in 2007 the first twenty boats have been produced.
The company:
